Onboarding: connect a card reader

Once your card reader is installed, use the below guide to connect the card reader to your device

Setup

  1. Make sure the card reader is on, plugged into the kiosk/register and the kiosk/register is connected to the internet

  2. Let the card reader charge to at least 50%

    Note: To check battery level, short press the power button on the side of the card reader, there should be at least 2 solid LEDs displayed to proceed)

  3. The kiosk/register app will then prompt you to connect to a card reader

  4. Connect the card reader through the kiosk app

    1. Click the chosen connection method - "Bluetooth"

    2. Click "Find a device"

    3. Your card reader should appear in the "Discovered Readers" section

      1. If it does not appear, make sure it is charging properly, turned on and then try the "Find a device" action again

        Note: If you have more than one card reader nearby, make sure you are connecting to the correct card reader by checking the serial number that appears on the back of the card reader against the one that appears on the screen

    4. Once discovered, click "Connect"

      Warning: On a first time connection, the card reader will go through a firmware update. During the update, modules will pop up to ask for connection permissions, it is important that you watch the download to approve the permissions on the screens, otherwise the firmware update will fail

    5. Your card reader will now appear in the "Saved Reader" section

    6. Click "Continue"

Your card reader setup is now complete!
