Troubleshooting
Printer Is Not Printing
If an order is not printing a label, first check the following:
1. Check The Printer's Connection
Confirm that the label printer is connected to the network.
The printer can connect through either WiFi or Ethernet.
If the printer uses WiFi, see Printer Is Not Connecting.
If the printer uses Ethernet, see the Ethernet troubleshooting steps in Printer Is Not Connecting.
2. Check The Printer Cover
Make sure the printer cover is completely closed.
A partially open cover can prevent the printer from printing.
3. Check The Label Roll
Make sure a label roll is loaded correctly and that labels can feed through the printer.
See Loading A Label Roll for the correct label orientation.
4. Check For A Paper Jam
Open the printer cover and check whether a label is stuck inside the printer.
If you find a jam, see Labels Are Jammed.
5. Power Cycle The Printer
If the printer still does not print, follow the steps in Power Cycling The Printer.
6. Check Order Size
Orders containing more than 150 items will not print automatically.
For these orders, the label must be printed manually through your SnackOS tablet.
If a normal-sized order still does not print after completing the troubleshooting steps above, contact Snackpass Support.
Printer Is Printing Blank Labels
If the printer feeds labels normally but the labels come out completely blank, the label roll is likely loaded upside down.
Thermal labels only have a heat-sensitive coating on one side. The printable side must face the thermal print head.
1. Remove The Label Roll
Open the printer cover and remove the label roll.
2. Check The Printable Side
Use your fingernail or a key to quickly scratch the surface of a label.
If the scratched area leaves a black mark, that is the printable side.
The printable side must face upward as the label feeds out of the printer.
3. Reload The Label Roll
Make sure the label roll feeds from the bottom of the roll, not over the top.
When viewed from the side, the paper should form a "J" shape, not a "P" shape.
The printable side of the labels should face upward toward the thermal print head as the labels exit the printer. After loading the roll, print a test label.
Labels Are Blurry
If the printed content looks faded, blurry, or as though the printer is running out of ink, clean the thermal print head and platen roller.
Thermal printers do not use ink. Poor print quality can occur when the thermal print head or platen roller becomes dirty.
Labels Are Misaligned Or Not Centered
If the printed content appears too far to the left or right instead of being centered on the label, the plastic label guard may not be positioned correctly.
1. Open The Printer Cover
Open the label printer cover to access the label roll.
2. Locate The Plastic Label Guard
Locate the plastic guard positioned to the side of the label roll.
3. Reposition The Guard
Make sure the plastic guard is correctly positioned and securely pinned into place.
You should hear a click when the guard is correctly positioned.
Once the guard is secured, close the printer cover and print a test label.
Labels Are Jammed
If a label becomes stuck inside the printer:
1. Turn Off And Unplug The Printer
Before removing a jam, turn the printer off and unplug it from the power outlet.
2. Open The Printer Cover
Open the label printer cover and locate the jammed label.
3. Remove The Jammed Label
Carefully and gently pull the jammed label free.
Do not pull the label forcefully.
If necessary, remove the entire label roll first to make the jam easier to access.
Be careful not to touch, bend, or damage the cutting blades inside the printer.
If removing the entire roll makes it easier to safely remove the jam, do so.
4. Check The Paper Path
Make sure no pieces of label or adhesive remain inside the printer.
You can manually feed a label through the printer or remove a small section of label material before closing the cover.
5. Reload The Label Roll
Reload the label roll correctly and close the printer cover.
Power the printer back on and try printing again.
If the printer continues to jam, contact Snackpass Support.
Printer Is Not Connecting
The label printer can connect through either WiFi or Ethernet.
Before troubleshooting, confirm which connection type the printer is using.
WiFi Connection
If the printer is connected through WiFi and cannot connect to the network, reset the printer's WiFi connection.
Ethernet Connection
If the printer is connected through Ethernet:
Disconnect the ethernet cable from the printer.
Reconnect the ethernet cable securely.
If the printer still does not connect, try a different ethernet port on the modem or router.
If the issue persists, try a different ethernet cable.
Check the printer connection again.
If the printer still cannot connect after trying another Ethernet port and cable, contact Snackpass Support.
Printer Will Not Turn On
1. Check The Power Connection
Make sure the printer's power cable is securely connected to both the printer and a working 120V wall outlet.
2. Try Powering On The Printer
Locate the physical power button on the front face of the printer, near the indicator lights and Feed button. Press the power button once to turn the printer on.
3. If The Printer Is Already On But Needs To Be Restarted
If the printer is frozen or unresponsive, follow the Power Cycling The Printer procedure. If the printer still will not turn on after confirming the power connection and completing a power cycle, contact Snackpass Support.
Troubleshooting Procedures
Power Cycling The Printer
Power cycling can help resolve temporary printer issues.
Press and hold the power button on the front face of the printer until all indicator lights turn off.
The printer may take approximately 1 minute to fully turn off.
Do not unplug the printer before all indicator lights have turned off.
Once the printer is completely off, unplug the power cable.
Wait 15 seconds.
Plug the printer back into a working 120V wall outlet.
Press the power button once to turn the printer back on.
Try printing again.
Resetting The Printer's WiFi Connection
Use this procedure when the printer is connected through WiFi and cannot establish a network connection.
Important: The printer must be completely powered off before starting this procedure.
1. Locate The SW Button
The SW button is a recessed pinhole on the back of the printer, in the bottom-left corner, directly below the cash drawer port.
Use a paperclip or pen to access the button.
2. Start The Reset
Make sure the printer is completely powered off.
Press and hold the SW button with a paperclip or pen.
While continuing to hold the SW button, press the printer's power button once.
Continue holding the SW button after the printer turns on.
Keep holding the SW button until a label prints that says “RESETTING TO FACTORY DEFAULT.”
Once that label prints, release the SW button.
Wait for the factory reset to finish.
3. Confirm The Reset Is Complete
The reset is complete when the printer produces the final label containing a QR code and the IP address 192.168.192.168.
Once this final label prints, contact Snackpass Support before continuing so Support can provide the next steps for reconnecting the printer.
Label Printer Maintenance
Regular cleaning helps maintain print quality and prevent printing issues.
Before cleaning the printer, turn it off and unplug it from the power outlet.
Cleaning The Thermal Print Head
The thermal print head is a small, black horizontal strip inside the paper feed path. To clean it:
Turn off and unplug the printer.
Open the printer cover.
Locate the thermal print head inside the paper feed path.
Apply alcohol directly to a cotton swab.
Gently wipe the thermal print head with the cotton swab.
Allow the area to dry briefly before using the printer again.
Cleaning The Platen Roller
The platen roller is the cylindrical rubber component located near the thermal print head. To clean it:
Make sure the printer is turned off and unplugged.
Open the printer cover.
Use a slightly damp cloth to remove dust or glue.
Clean around the black mark sensor if needed.
Rotate the roller manually while cleaning to clean its entire surface.
Allow it to dry briefly before using the printer again.
Recommended Cleaning Kits
Snackpass recommends the following:
Loading A Label Roll
Load the label roll so that:
The paper feeds from the bottom/underneath side of the roll.
The paper forms a "J" shape when viewed from the side, rather than a "P" shape.
The printable, thermal side of the label faces upward as it exits the printer.
The printable side faces the thermal print head.
If labels are coming out completely blank, see Printer Is Printing Blank Labels.
