Editing your menu in Snackpass is simple and self-serve. To keep your account secure and protect sensitive information like pricing and tax settings, Snackpass Technical Support is unable to make menu changes on your behalf.
How Do I Update My Menu On The Dashboard?
Editing your menu in the Snackpass Dashboard is quick and self-serve.
Follow these simple steps to add new items, create categories, or use item templates:
Go to your Snackpass Dashboard.
Log in using your admin credentials.
On the left sidebar, navigate to:
STORE → MENU → ITEMS
In the top right corner, click NEW ITEM.
You'll see three options:
New Item – Add a new item to an existing category.
New Item From Template – Add an item you've saved as a template from another store (great for multi-location admins).
New Category – Create a new category and immediately add its first item.
Creating A New Item
When you select New Item, a form will appear on the right side of the screen.
Here's what each field means:
Field | Description |
Name | The name customers will see (e.g., Club Sandwich). |
Kitchen Facing Name | Optional. An internal name shown only on the KDS app. If left blank, the main item name is used. |
Image | Optional: Upload an image to make your menu item more appealing to customers.
|
Category | Select an existing category or type a new one to create it. |
Points | Optional. Set how many loyalty points this item gives when purchased. |
Price Type | At this time, the only option type available is Flat price. |
Price | Enter the price in dollars. |
Fulfillments | Select where this item can be ordered (Pickup, Delivery, Dine-In). Selected options will highlight in blue. |
Channels | Choose where the item appears (App, Online Ordering, Register, or Kiosk). |
Tax Override | Toggle on to set a custom tax rate (instead of your default tax settings). |
Show As Upsell | Toggle on to show the item in the “People Also Get” section at checkout (requires an image and available stock). |
Use As Template | Enable this if you want to reuse this item as a template at other locations. |
Special Hours | Set specific availability (e.g., breakfast-only items). |
Once all fields are filled out, click SAVE ITEM at the bottom.
Adding Modifiers Or Add-Ons
To let customers customize their items:
Click + NEW MODIFIER GROUP at the end of the +NEW ITEM form.
A pop-up will appear with these fields:
Field | Description |
Modifier Group Name | Example: Toppings |
Kitchen Facing Name | Optional. Shown only on the KDS. |
Requirements | Set the minimum and maximum selections. (Set minimum = 1 to make it required.) |
Multi-Select | Toggle on if a customer can select an option more than once. |
Modifiers | Click NEW OPTION to add items (e.g., Bacon). You can set an optional kitchen-facing name and price. |
When finished, click SAVE MODIFIERS.
You'll return to the item screen, don’t forget to click SAVE ITEM again to finalize all changes.
Creating A New Item From Template
If you manage multiple locations, you can copy existing items easily:
Select New Item From Template.
Choose the following:
Store – The location you’re copying from.
Item Template – The menu item marked for reuse (it must have Use as Template turned on).
Add To Category – Select the category where the new item should appear.
This option requires the category to already exist; it cannot be used to place a new template item into a category that hasn’t been created yet.Tip: If you need to add the item to a new category, start the process normally. When you reach the Item Creation form, edit the selected category field and simply type the name of the new category.
Click CREATE ITEM to save.
Creating A New Category
To create a brand-new category:
Select New Category.
Enter a Category Name.
The process continues just like adding a new item (see Creating A New Item above).
Note: When you choose New Category, the category field will already be pre-filled.
Menu Actions
Once your menu is fully set up in Snackpass, with categories, items, and modifiers, you can easily manage or adjust them directly from the Menu Editor.
Deleting Categories
If you need to remove a category:
In the Menu Editor, find the category you want to delete.
Click the trash icon on the right side.
Confirm that you want to delete the category.
Note: This action cannot be undone, so double-check before deleting.
Marking Items As Sold Out
You can temporarily mark items as sold out right from the dashboard:
In the Menu Editor, click the cart icon on the right side of the item.
Choose how long it should remain sold out: Today, This Week, or until a specific date.
Click SAVE to apply the change.
You can also mark items as sold out directly from your Stock app on SnackOS devices.
Marking Modifiers As Sold Out
Open the item that contains the modifier.
Scroll to the Customize Item section.
Expand the modifier group.
Click the three dots to the right of the modifier and select Sold Out.
Editing Items
To make changes to an existing item (like updating price, loyalty points, or special hours):
In the Menu Editor, click the pencil icon (second icon on the right).
Update any details as needed.
Click SAVE ITEM when finished.
Duplicating Items
If you need to duplicate an existing item (for example, to create a similar menu item):
In the Menu Editor, click the duplicate icon (third icon on the right).
The item will open in a side panel for review.
Make any adjustments, then click SAVE ITEM to add it to your menu.
Bulk Editing Modifiers
You can now bulk edit modifiers across all your menu items and categories. This feature makes it easy to add or remove modifiers, adjust prices, mark modifiers as sold out, or rename modifier groups, and automatically apply those changes to every related item in your menu.
Modifier groups are considered identical (and therefore editable together) when they meet both of the following conditions:
They have the same group name.
They contain the same add-ons, with matching names and prices.
When you make changes, a confirmation window will appear. From there, you can choose exactly where the updates apply by selecting or deselecting specific products or modifier groups.
Once you’ve reviewed your selections, simply check or uncheck the categories or items you want to include, then click Submit to save your changes.
After saving, your updates will automatically apply across all relevant menu items.
Duplicating Menus
If you manage multiple locations with Snackpass, the Menu Duplicator feature allows you to easily copy an entire menu from one store to another.
Important Note: The Duplicate Menu feature should only be used for new menus. If you already have an existing menu, do not delete it and then duplicate another menu.
Instead, edit the existing menu to make any necessary updates. Deleting and duplicating menus will erase important data like item popularity, purchase counts, and connections to promotions. Additionally, special hours and tax overrides will need to be manually reapplied.
This step is crucial to ensure you don’t lose valuable data or create extra work.
Before you begin: Ensure the store you're duplicating to has an empty menu. The feature will not work if the store already has items.
To duplicate a menu:
Go to STORE → MENU → ITEMS in your Snackpass Dashboard.
At the top, click the ACTION button and select Duplicate Menu.
Choose the store you want to copy the menu from.
Click OK to confirm and import the menu.
Once imported, the new store will have a full copy of the menu. Any future changes you make to this duplicated menu will not affect the original store's menu, so you can safely customize it as needed.
Configuring Tax Rates For Your Menu
You can manage and update tax rates directly in your Snackpass Dashboard.
To update tax settings:
Go to the left-hand menu and navigate to Settings → Account & Tax → Tax Rates.
From there, you can set a store-wide tax rate for your entire menu or configure specific tax rates by fulfillment type (such as pickup, delivery, or dine-in).
Please remember that it’s your responsibility to ensure all tax rates are configured accurately. Be sure to review and follow your local tax regulations before making any updates.
