Connection method options
Note: The Duo register connection is the preferred configuration
Important Notice: As of November 15th, 2023, the Duo register can now be directly connected to the Snackpass cash drawer through the built-in RJ12 port. The cash drawer must be a 12V cash drawer (Legacy Snackpass cash drawers shipped prior to November 15th, 2023 will not work with this feature, a hardware upgrade will be required) - 24V cash drawers will not work with the Duo register
Duo register setup
Connect Cash Drawer RJ12 Cable: Connect the RJ12 cable from the cash drawer to the RJ12 port located at the bottom of the Duo register's main display.
Note: Ensure the cable is securely connected to prevent any communication issues between the register and cash drawer.
Handle the cable gently to prevent damage to the connectors.
The cash drawer is powered through the RJ12 cable and does not need any additional cables attached
Verify Duo Register Setup: Ensure the Duo register is connected to power and turned on. Verify that the register is connected to the internet and registered to your restaurant in the restaurant dashboard.
Associate Cash Drawer and Enable Cash Payments: Access the restaurant dashboard to link the cash drawer with the Duo register.
Under Devices, select the Duo register, click Edit, and scroll to cash drawer settings.
Click + Create, and assign a name to the cash drawer, then submit.
Then, under Settings, toggle on Allow cash payments.
Test Cash Drawer Functionality: Run a test order and select the cash payment option; the cash drawer should open automatically. If it does not, ensure the RJ12 cable connections are secure in the Duo register. If the issue persists, contact Snackpass support.
Your setup should now be complete! Run a test order and see what that cash drawer can do!
Receipt printer setup
Connect RJ12 Cable to Receipt Printer: Remove the back cover of the Snack receipt printer (Model M30II & M30III) and connect the RJ12 cable.
Note:
Ensure you have the correct RJ12 cable, which has 6 pins and is slightly smaller than an Ethernet cable.
Handle the cable gently to avoid damaging the pins or connector.
Verify Printer Setup: Ensure the printer is connected to power and turned on. The printer should already be connected to the internet and registered to your restaurant on the restaurant dashboard.
Printer Back Cover: Reattach the back cover of the printer.
Complete RJ12 Connection to Cash Drawer: Connect the other end of the RJ12 cable to the cash drawer.
Note:
The cash drawer is powered through the RJ12 cable and requires no additional cables.
Ensure the connection is secure to facilitate proper operation and communication.
Associate Cash Drawer with Printer and Enable Cash Payments: Access the restaurant dashboard to link the cash drawer with the receipt printer.
Under Devices, select the receipt printer, click Edit, and scroll to the cash drawer settings.
Click + Create, name the cash drawer, and submit.
Ensure cash payments are enabled on the register and/or kiosk by selecting the device in Devices, clicking Edit, and toggling on Allow cash payments.
Test Cash Drawer Operation with Printer: Execute a test order and choose the cash payment option; the cash drawer should open automatically. If it doesn't, verify that the RJ12 cable connections are secure in both the printer and the cash drawer. If the problem persists, contact Snackpass support.
Organize and Conceal Cables: Organize the cabling to prevent it from getting caught or snagged, keeping it as hidden and neat as possible.
Note:
Use cable ties or clips to keep cables bundled together neatly.
Ensure cables are routed in a way that minimizes visibility and prevents tripping hazards.
Your setup should now be complete! Run a test order and see what that cash drawer can do!
