How do I update my menu in Snackpass?

Updating your menu in Snackpass is easy and self-serve. Please note that Snackpass Technical Support cannot make updates on your behalf to protect your sensitive information, such as pricing and tax rates.

In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through creating a new category and adding an item to it in your Snackpass menu.

  • First, log in to your SnackPass dashboard. Use the left-hand toolbar to navigate to the MENU tab.

  • Click on MENU to view your existing categories. Below each category header, you’ll see the number of items in that category. Click the toggle to expand and view the items.

  • For this example, we’re going to add a chicken sandwich, which requires a new category. Click on the blue NEW ITEM button, then select the small arrow on the right side of the button.

  • Choose NEW CATEGORY from the dropdown menu. A pop-up will appear where you can enter the new category name. Type Sandwiches and click CREATE NEW CATEGORY.

  • You’ll now see the template for adding a new item on the right side of your screen. In the category section, select ''Sandwiches'' as the category for this item.

  • Start filling in the item details:

    • Name: Enter the name for your item.

    • Image: Optionally, add an image by dragging it here or clicking the "Add Image" button.

    • Points: To enable your customers to earn and redeem points through our rewards system, assign point values to your items. We generally suggest awarding 1 point for each item priced over $5, but feel free to adjust this based on your preferences.

    • Price: Set a flat price for your item.

    • Description: Write a description that suits your new item.

Customize the item:

  • Availability: By default, the item is available for pickup and dining. Click on these options to select / deselect if you wish to remove them.

  • Channels: Choose the platforms where the item can be ordered—Snackpass App, Register, Kiosk, or Online Ordering. Deselect any channels where you don’t want the item available.

  • Sales Tax: Override the standard tax rate if necessary (e.g., 10% for chicken items instead of the default 8%).

  • Special Hours: Set specific availability, such as only on Tuesdays for lunch.

Modifier Groups: Add modifiers to customize the item further.

  • Existing Modifiers: Select from existing modifier groups if available.

  • New Modifier Group: Click on "New Modifier Group" and give it a name, such as "Bread." Set the selection requirements to a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 1. Then, add your modifier options, like White Bread and Focaccia. If any modifiers have additional costs, enter the pricing next to each option.

Click ''Save Modifiers'' to apply them. The modifiers will now appear in the item details.

Scroll down and click “Save Item” to finalize.

Return to your menu, and you should now see your new category, and the recently added item listed under it.

What size photos should I upload to my Snackpass menu?

Recommended Dimensions: 4:3
Recommended Size: 800x600
Recommended Type: .jpg, .jpeg, .png

Once you make an update to your menu on the Snackpass Dashboard, your Snackpass kiosk will begin to reflect the changes the next time it reaches the splash screen. The updates will reflect in about 60 seconds. This means that if a customer is mid-order when the updates are made, they will not see the changes reflected. They will be able to complete their order without interruption. After the order, when the kiosk returns to the splash screen, the menu updates will begin to process and will reflect within one minute.

Can I update tax rates on my menu in Snackpass? Can I update the tax rate of individual items on Snackpass?

Yes! You can update tax rates for your menu. On your dashboard, go to the left side menu and scroll down to SETTINGS - FINANCIALS - TAX RATES. You will then be able to configure a store wide tax rate for your menu, or configure specific tax rates by fulfillments. Please know it is your duty to configure tax rates accurately, and it is important to consult local regulations before modifying or updating these rates.
