What is SnackOS?

New Home Screen

SnackOS gives you access to the entire suite of Snackpass apps, including Register, Kiosk, Order Management, Stock, Kitchen Display Screen (KDS), Shifts, Settings, and SnackTV on the same device.

New Register Navigation

The register app no longer contains a bottom navigation bar for orders, stock, or settings. These apps have been relocated to a side navigation menu accessible at any time by swiping left from the right side of the screen or clicking the hamburger icon in the top right corner.

Inventory Renamed To Stock

Previously, our feature for managing items' availability was named Inventory; it is now called Stock. You can access Stock from both the home screen and the right-side menu.

With the Stock feature in SnackOS, you can mark modifiers as sold out or in stock across all menu items at once, instead of having to do this individually for each item, as was required in the dashboard.

New SnackOS Settings

Previously, store settings and device settings were separate sections. In SnackOS, these settings have been combined.

Like all other apps, SnackOS settings can be accessed through the home screen or the right side menu.

Card Readers Connectivity

You can now connect card readers directly through SnackOS Settings. Depending on your reader type, connection options include Bluetooth, USB, or internet connectivity.

Order Announcements

Our latest SnackOS feature: Order Announcements / Voice Announcements. This functionality enables orders to be announced via a Bluetooth speaker immediately upon being marked as completed. Please note, this feature is currently compatible exclusively with the SnackTV app.

In order to connect a bluetooth speaker:

  • Go to Android Settings.

  • Tap on Bluetooth.

  • Click on Pair Device to connect your Bluetooth speaker.

Full Screen Apps

When swiping the side menu bar on any full screen app, except for Kiosk, a protected pin shows up to authenticate the user from accessing other apps. Simply enter the employee pin if set or default device pin which can be found on the partner dashboard under Settings -> Back of House -> Employee Pin.

New Kiosk Design Options

We’re excited to introduce two design options for the SnackOs Kiosk app: Gallery Mode and Classic Mode. Gallery Mode puts your menu front and center with a visually stunning, image-first layout that highlights the appearance of your dishes with larger images. Classic Mode gives equal emphasis to menu images and descriptions for a more balanced view of your offerings.

New KDS Display Layout Options

We offer four distinct layout options for your KDS (Kitchen Display System) to enhance your order management:

  • Two Rail: This layout organizes your orders into two rails on the screen, allowing you to view up to 10 orders simultaneously.

  • One Rail: This option displays orders in a single rail, ideal for larger orders with more detailed information. It can show up to 5 orders per page.

  • Flex: A versatile layout that adapts between one rail and two rails based on the amount of information in each order, providing the best view for varying order sizes.

  • Header: This option displays only the headers for your orders, including the order number, customer name, channel, and pickup timer. You can see up to 50 orders per page, but please note that you can only mark entire orders as done—not individual items.

How Do I Switch The KDS Layout?

To change your KDS layout, follow these steps:

  • On your SnackOs device, open SETTINGS from the home screen or by tapping the hamburger icon in the upper right corner.

  • In the left-side menu, select Kitchen Display under the Apps section.

New Kiosk Checkout Options

We're excited to introduce two new settings in the checkout section of the Snackpass kiosk app! Previously, kiosk mode did not allow users to skip the phone number or marketing screen for joining your SMS list.

Now, you can easily choose to skip the phone number entry and opt out of displaying the marketing screen if you prefer.

To adjust these settings, follow these simple steps:

  1. From your SnackOs home screen, navigate to SETTINGS via the main menu or by tapping the hamburger icon in the upper right corner.

  2. In the SETTINGS menu, scroll down the left sidebar to the APPS section and select KIOSK.

  3. On the right side, you'll find the CHECKOUT section.

  4. Toggle the options for ALLOW PHONE NUMBER TO BE SKIPPED and SHOW MARKETING SCREEN based on your desired kiosk experience.

  5. Once you've made your selections, return to the kiosk app to see the changes take effect immediately—there's no need to save!

Please note that this setting is device-specific. This means you'll need to complete this process individually for each kiosk where you want to skip the phone number and marketing screens.

If you enable the Allow Phone Number to Be Skipped option, customers will see a SKIP button in the upper right corner of the screen. Clicking this button will prompt them to enter a name for their order instead of providing a phone number.

Similarly, if the Show Marketing Screen toggle is disabled, customers will not see this marketing screen at all.

New KDS Order Actions

You can now perform new order actions on your KDS device! To access these features, follow these simple steps:

  1. Access The KDS App
Open your KDS app from your Snack Os home screen or lateral menu.

  2. Locate The Order Actions Button
In the bottom right corner, you'll find a button labeled ORDER ACTIONS. Click on it to activate the feature; it will turn white.

  3. Select Your Order
Once the button is active, click on the header of the order you want to manage. This will open a modal with various options.

Available Actions

Print Orders

  • In the order actions modal, you'll see a printer icon next to each item for individual printing (note: individual printing is only supported on label printers).

  • There's also a Print All button at the bottom, allowing you to print the entire order.

  • After selecting either option, you'll be prompted to choose a specific printer or opt to print on all available printers.

Refund Orders

  • You'll also find a Refund button in the bottom bar of the order actions.

  • Clicking this will take you to the familiar refund screen, where you can process:

    • Full Refunds

    • Partial Refunds

    • Custom Refunds

  • Be sure to select a reason for the refund for record-keeping. Once done, click the Refund button in the bottom right corner to complete the process.

Mark Order Ready

  • Finally, the READY button allows you to mark the entire order as ready for fulfillment. Remember, this action applies to the whole order, not to individual items.

To exit the order actions modal, simply tap outside the modal box. If you wish to disable the order actions feature entirely, click the ORDER ACTIONS button in the bottom corner again; it will turn grey, allowing you to manage your orders using the standard methods.

New KDS Prep Stations

You can now easily configure Prep Stations for all your KDS devices! Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Access Your Snackpass Dashboard
    Go to Snackpass Dashboard.

  2. Navigate To Prep Stations
In the left side menu, select SETTINGS > BACK OF HOUSE and then click on PREP STATIONS. Ensure your prep stations are correctly configured. If you need to create new ones, please refer to our Prep Stations article for detailed setup instructions.

  3. Assign Prep Stations To KDS Devices
After configuring your prep stations, return to SETTINGS and select DEVICES. Locate the KDS device you wish to assign a prep station to.

  4. Edit Device Settings
Click on the name of your KDS device. We recommend naming your KDS devices based on their respective prep stations, such as "Hot Drinks KDS."

  5. Choose The Prep Station
In the upper left corner, click on EDIT. Scroll down to PREP STATIONS SETTINGS. From the dropdown menu next to Choose Prep Station, select the desired prep station for your KDS. Once you've made your selection, click SAVE on the bottom right corner.

  6. Restart App
To ensure your changes take effect after selecting the appropriate prep stations on the dashboard, restart your KDS devices. Simply navigate to Settings on the SnackOs home screen, then scroll down the left-hand menu and select More followed by Restart App.

  7. KDS Prep Station Updated
Once you restart the KDS app, your KDS device will now display only the items from orders linked to the selected prep station.

For instance, if a Hot Drinks prep station is assigned to a device and a customer places an order that includes three Cappuccinos (Hot Drinks) and three Cold Brews (Cold Drinks), the KDS will exclusively display the Cappuccinos. This occurs because the device is specifically set to show only items from the Hot Drinks category.

Note: Each KDS can only be assigned to one prep station at a time; multiple prep stations per device are not currently supported.
