The Search button allows you to quickly find menu categories and items using keywords or characters.

  1. Click on the SEARCH button in the left menu of your Register 1.0 app.

Menu

The Menu page is the default screen in the Register 1.0 app, where you'll see the categories of your menu. Items are displayed with random, non-customizable colors. Let's explore the features of this page and how to use it effectively.

Adding An Item To The Cart

  1. Navigate To The Menu Tab
Click on the Menu tab in the left-side menu of your Register 1.0 app.

  2. Select A Category
To add an item to your cart, choose a category by either selecting one of the colored boxes above or by navigating to the CATEGORIES section in the left-side menu.

  3. Choose An Item
Once you open the category, select the item you wish to add.

  4. Modify The Item
After selecting the item, you'll be taken to the Modifiers page, where you can customize the item.

  5. Required Modifiers

    • If the item has required modifiers, it will show Selection Required in red in the cart. You won't be able to check out until all required modifiers are selected or the item is removed from the cart.

    • If there are no required modifiers, the item will automatically be eligible for checkout.

Editing The Cart

Once items are added to the cart, you can make adjustments as needed:

  1. Adjust Item Quantity

    • To change the quantity, tap the + or - buttons at the bottom left of the item in the cart. The updated total will appear next to the item name in the right-hand cart preview.

  2. Add Item Notes

    • To add special instructions for an item, click the Item Notes icon (pencil) at the bottom of the page. These notes will appear on the KDS, receipt, and labels.

  3. Remove An Item

    • Click the Remove button (in red) at the bottom to delete an item. Alternatively, you can swipe left on the item in the cart to remove it.

Common Limitations

Some limitations on menu selections are caused by how the menu is configured on the Dashboard.

For more details on editing your menu, refer to the Menu Editor article.

Here are some common scenarios:

  • Modifier Limits:

    • Example: You can only select a modifier once.
Cause: Multi-select is not enabled for that modifier group.

  • Modifier Quantity Limits:

    • Example: A drink can only have a maximum of 5 toppings.
Cause: The modifier group has a limit of 5.

  • Required Modifier Selections:

    • Example: You cannot check out without selecting an ice level.
Cause: A minimum selection is set for that modifier group (e.g., 1).

  • Dine-In Limitation:

    • Example: You cannot check out an item as dine-in.
Cause: Dine-in is not available as a fulfillment option for that specific item.

  • Cart Does Not Reflect Taxes & Fees:

    • Taxes and fees may not be visible in the cart as they are applied based on the customer's selection later in the checkout process.

Additional Notes

  • Operating Fee:
The operating fee is a charge applied to card orders, paid by customers, and collected by Snackpass.

  • Service Fee:
Some stores charge a customer-to-store service fee for card payments.

To avoid confusion during the customer experience, Snackpass recommends that stores withhold the total amount during this stage and update customers on taxes, fees, and final charges once the payment method is selected.

Promotions

Any active promotions you've set up that are eligible for use in the Register 1.0 app will appear in the Promotions section on the left-side menu.

For more information on creating promotions, check out our Promotions article in the Help Center.

To apply a promotion, follow the next simple steps:

  1. Add Items To Your Cart

    • First, go to the Menu tab to select and add the items you want to your cart.

  2. Access Promotions

    • Once your cart is ready, click on Promotions in the left-side menu.

  3. Select A Relevant Promotion

    • Choose a promotion that applies to the items in your cart. For example, if you added drinks to your cart and have a discount on drinks, select the drink promotion.

Note: Promotions can only be applied to items that are currently in your cart. If an item isn't in the cart, it won’t be eligible for a promotion.

  4. Apply The Promotion

    • Once you've selected the promotion, it will be applied immediately to the qualifying items in your cart.

Keypad

The Keypad tab allows you to apply manual discounts or custom charges to your cart. Note: This feature is not available for Pay Later orders—only promotions will apply in those cases.

Permissions For Keypad Discounts

Only admins with the appropriate permissions can process manual discounts or charges. To check if your PIN has the correct permissions:

  1. Access the Snackpass Dashboard.

  2. In the left menu, go to Settings > Team.

  3. Find the admin you want to check, click on the three dots next to their name, and select Edit.

  4. Scroll down to the SnackOs - Register section.

  5. Check the box for Keypad Discounts and click Save.

Once these permissions are set, the selected admin's PIN will be able to process manual discounts and charges.

Applying A Discount Or Custom Charge

Once your PIN has the correct permissions, follow these steps:

  1. Add Items To Your Cart
Start by adding items to your cart as usual.

  2. Access The Keypad Tab
Once your cart is ready, click on the Keypad tab in the left menu.

  3. Select Discount Or Charge Type

    • Choose between a Flat amount or a % (percentage) discount at the top.

    • Enter the discount or upcharge amount using the keypad (e.g., a flat $5 discount or upcharge).

    • For percentage discounts, note that custom percentage charges are not supported at this time.

  4. Apply The Discount/Charge

    • Once you've entered the amount, click the Discount or Charge button at the bottom to apply it to your cart.

    • The discount or charge will be applied immediately. If your PIN has the correct permissions, it will be processed. If not, you'll see an Approval Required message, and the checkout will be blocked until approval is given.

Editing a Discount or Charge

If you need to edit a discount or charge:

  1. Tap The Discount/Charge
On the right side of the screen, tap the applied discount or charge in the cart.

  2. Adjust The Amount
This will open the keypad screen again, where you can backspace and adjust the value or change between flat and percentage discounts. When you're done, click the appropriate Discount or Charge button to finalize the edit.

Adding Discount Notes

To add notes for a discount:

  1. Tap the Pencil Icon at the bottom left of the keypad screen.

  2. Enter your notes, which will be included in the order summary when exported from the Dashboard.

Important Notes

  • Negative Subtotal:
If the flat discount exceeds the cart subtotal, the cart will show a negative subtotal. To resolve this, either reduce the discount or add more items to the cart to cover the discount amount.

3P Manually Entered Orders.

You can manually enter third-party (3P) orders into your Register 1.0 app. To enable this payment method and select your third-party providers, refer to the Dashboard Configurations section at the beginning of this article for setup instructions.

Third-party manually entered orders are typically used for orders where payment has already been processed through platforms like DoorDash, UberEats, Grubhub, Venmo, Meal Swipes, etc. This is commonly used for delivery orders. Note that Snackpass does not handle payment for these orders; they are only entered into the system for processing and printing.

How To Manually Enter a 3P Order

  1. Add Items To Your Cart
Add the order items in the Register 1.0 app just like you would for any regular order.

  2. Checkout
Tap CHECKOUT to proceed to the payment screen.

  3. Enter Customer Information

    • Enter the customer's phone number and name.

  4. Select Payment Method

    • On the Payment Method screen, choose THIRD PARTY.

  5. Choose The Provider

    • Select the third-party order provider (e.g., DoorDash, UberEats) from the list.

  6. Order Confirmation
The order will automatically be sent to the Orders app, KDS, and any connected printers for processing.

Note: If you'd like 3P delivery orders to be automatically sent to your POS and printers, refer to our article on integrating Deliverect for seamless order processing.

Once Register Rewards are enabled, here's how you can redeem them:

  1. Add Items to the Cart
Add the items the customer wants to purchase.

  2. Enter Customer's Phone Number
Proceed to checkout and ensure you enter the customer's phone number. Rewards are tied to the customer’s phone number, so this step is essential.

  3. View Available Rewards
On the next screen, the customer's point balance and eligible rewards will be displayed.

  4. Redeem A Reward

    • To redeem a reward, click USE next to the reward you'd like to apply.

    • Note: The reward can only be used if the item it applies to is in the cart. For example, to redeem a Free Drink reward, a drink must be added to the cart. If the cart does not contain the qualifying item, add it before proceeding to checkout.

  5. Complete The Order
The reward will be applied to the customer's order, as you can see in the example below.

Custom Charge Only Purchases

You can now place orders with only a custom charge on Snackpass Register 1.0—ideal for adding charges for items not on your standard menu. Follow these steps to create a custom charge-only order:

  1. Access Register Mode
Log in to your register with your assigned PIN.

  2. Open The Keyboard Tab
On the left-side menu, click on the Keyboard tab.

  3. Enter Custom Charge

We recommend adding a note to explain what the charge is for.

    • Click the arrow next to Order in the upper-right corner.

    • Select Add Order Notes.

    • Type your note in the prompt and click Continue.

These notes will appear on the KDS and Orders apps and receipts too.

  6. Proceed To Checkout
Complete the checkout process like any other order.

Where Order Notes Appear

  • Orders App
Notes will appear on the order screen in the app.

  • KDS App
Notes will show on the kitchen display system.

  • Dashboard

  • Receipts
Notes will be visible on the printed receipt.

Note: Receipts for orders with custom charges will only be printed on BLUETOOTH receipt printers. Printers connected via WiFi or Ethernet will not be able to print these orders.

Important Notes About Custom Charge-Only Orders

  1. Zero Item Display fOR Custom Charges
Custom charge-only orders will show zero items on all platforms (Orders, KDS, and Receipts). This is because the custom charge is not tied to a menu item.

  2. Custom Charge Item Notes
Any notes added to the custom charge (by clicking the pencil icon on the keypad) will not appear on the KDS or Receipts. These notes will only be visible on the Orders App.
Recommendation: We strongly recommend adding Order Notes instead, as these will be visible across all platforms (KDS, Orders, and Receipts).
